Davide Chiesa

was born in Turin in 1990. He collaborated as guest principal flautist with the Gurzenich Orchester Koln, Opernhaus Zurich, Opéra National de Lyon, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Resonanz Hamburg, Teatro Regio Turin, Yokohama Music Festival Orchestra, FOI Parma, New generation Festival; he also collaborated with Orchestra for Human Rights, Philarmonique de Strasbourg, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Kammersolisten Zug, Orchestra of Europe, Bach kollegium Berlin under H.Blomstedt, D. Harding, F. Luisi, V. Petrenko, T. Currentzis, G. Noseda, F. X. Roth, A.Gilbert, N. Otomo, A. Altinoglu, A.Allegrini and N. Santi. During his studies he has been principal flute of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival Orchestra and the World Youth Orchestra . From 2012 to 2014 he was a member of the Orchester Akademie of the Opernhaus Zurich (Philarmonia Zurich).


Apart from his orchestra activities, Davide Chiesa appears as a soloist with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra sinfonica del Piemonte, Chieri sinfonietta, INCAMTO ensemble. As a chamber musician he performs regularly for the UNIONE MUSICALE since 2012, where he played with L. Belmondo, S. Rubino, S, Giorgini, Trio Debussy, S. Briatore, A.Caiello. He performes in prestigious halls, like Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, Tonhalle Zurich, KKL Luzern, Victoria Hall Geneve, Felsenreitschule Salzburg, Philarmonie Koln, Kongresshalle Lubeck, Beethoven Halle Stuttgart, Parco della musica di Roma, Lingotto Torino, Yokohama Minato Mirai, Shenzhen Symphony hall. In 2016 he was selected for the Berlin’s “Exzellenz-Konzert” series, under D. Barenboim’s patronage. In 2014 he was selected for the Académie de Villecroze and the Wiener Philarmoniker Sommerakademie. From 2014 to 2016 he has been a soloist at the FLAUTISSIMO Festival in Rome. In 2020 he was invited to perform with the Ensemble Resonanz and Tabea Zimmermann for the “E.Von Siemens Preis cerimony in Munich.


He won severals prizes and scolarships, like 1 prize at"Chieri International Flute Competition", Darmstadt special prize at “S. Gazzelloni” International Flute competition, 1 prize CRT competition, 2 Prize J.Brahms International competition, Fondazione Live piemonte, DE SONO associazione, Foerderverein Hanns Eisler. In 2020 he was appointed flute professor at Conservatorio “F. Cilea” in Reggio Calabria. 

He studied with Mario Caroli at the Strasbourg Académie Supérieure de Musique(2010-2012), from where he graduated with a first before pursuing further studies in Paris with Patrick Gallois(2012-2014), and subsequently with Silvia Careddu at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule fur Musik In Berlin(2015-2017), finishing with a distinction. He is studying as well orchestral conducting in Milano. In 2012 he obtained his Master degree in Musicology at the Strasbourg University with a thesis on Boulez and Sciarrino.
